ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Medical Gastroenterology is regarded as the nucleus of this institute. This department started its journey since the day of the inauguration of the hospital in 2018 with the latest GI facilities in a newly built modern infrastructure. It is now operating emergency, outdoor and indoor Gastrointestinal and Liver services with a good reputation. By this time, this department has achieved good reputation and trust of all level of people of this country.

A dynamic and dedicated team of gastroenterologist, physicians and staffs are working 24/7 for the patient's service. Different types of elective and emergency endoscopic procedures including upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, band ligation, argon plasma coagulation, clipping of bleeding vessel, fundal glue injection, polypectomy, EMR, Colonoscopy, ERCP, Enteroscopy, Endoscopic ultrasound, Manometry and Oesophageal P^H monitoring are going on regularly. It is the only Government Gastroliver institute and hospital of the country as well as the largest referral Center of Gastrointestinal and Liver diseases. It has a very useful Telemedicine center which provides on line GI and liver disease consultation for the whole country. It's now pioneering the GI services in the country.

This is not only a service hospital but also the leading academic institute for GI and liver diseases. It has well furnished and fully equipped 4 class rooms and a library with internet facilities for the post graduate students. A good number of highly experienced faculties are taking part in academic activities regularly. Dozens of research works have already been published in reputed journal and multiple research works are being carried out here. This institute has established links and collaboration with a number of similar institutes of home and abroad.

SERVICE / FACILITIES

Emergency:

The acute and emergency department provides emergency medical services to patients who are suffering from haematemesis ( vomitus with blood) and melaena (black stool), severe vomiting and diarrhea, hepatic encephalopathy ( unconscious due to liver diseae), peritonitis ( abdominal discomfort and pain due to inflammation inside the abdominal structure), haematochezia ( fresh blood from anus). Trained and skilled professionals are appointed at the emergency department who can handle this sort of conditions with care.

Patients are initially treated in the emergency department and later on transferred to indoor according to the condition of the patient under the supervision of a specialized team.

Outdoor:

Outdoor service has been giving valuable advices and support to the GI and liver patients regularly since its commencement. The resident physician is leading the department along with skilled consultants and medical officers. It plays a valuable role for making decisions of various referral patients from the every nook and corner of the country. The outdoor department gives the facilities of upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy services with limited therapeutic amenities. It is situated in the level 2 of the main building in the campus.

Indoor:

The indoor facilities of this hospital provide a comprehensive and state-of-the-art service. The department is manned by esteemed and experienced gastroenterologists, skilled and compassionate staffs and well-trained technicians. The aim of the department is to provide a patient-focused approach.
