Surgical Gastroenterology

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The surgical Gastroenterology Department started its journey on17th October , 2020 . Mr. Zahid Maleque, Honourable minister of Health and family planning of Bangladesh, inaugurated the department. Mr. ABM Khurshid Alam, Director general of health services inaugurated the surgery in the well quipped OT complex leading himself the team from front. Since then, the Department has done many complex intra abdominal open and intra abdominal laparoscopic surgeries . Side by side , the department is continuing its academic activities like daily clinical discussions, CME , research , workshop and seminar. The department started with 2 units headed by 2 Associate professors and 2 Junior consultants, a Resident surgeon along with some Assistant registrars and medical officers.

SERVICE / FACILITIES

Wards and Operation theatres

Two wards along with 10 cabins. Each ward containing 27 beds. Doctors room and Nurse station for each.

Operation theatre complex

One preoperative space: Preoperative space consist of 2 beds and patient before operation usually optimized in this room.

Operation theatre : There are 4 operation theaters in the complex and at a time 4 surgeries can be done in these theatres. Now 1 operation theatre is functioning and another 3 theatres will be active soon.

Postoperative ward: There are 10 post operative beds with central oxygen and noninvasive monitoring system.

Outpatient department:

Patient with complex Gestrointestinal surgical diseases from different parts of the country comes to outpatient department and take advice .Resident surgeon conduct the outpatient department along with medical officers. Faculties also serve the patients in out patient department.
